Too Busy to Blog
“Every passion borders on the chaotic, but the collector’s passion borders on the chaos of memories. More than that: the chance, the fate, that suffuse the past before my eyes are conspicuously present in the accustomed confusion of these books. For what else is this collection but a disorder to which habit has accommodated itself to such an extent that it can appear as order?”
Walter Benjamin, Unpacking my Library: A Talk about Book Collecting (1931)
I hear you about the being too busy part. So why am I blogging? I need to get back to proofing!!
Ah, great quote.
There is a great book I’ve seen (and resisted buying) called Unpacking My Library: Architects and Their Books. You can have a peek at the photos at http://www.unpackingmylibrary.org/
It seems to me that we had this book on the shelf! I sort of shelved it away without a second look because it was a bit too *aesthetic theory* for my tastes. I might as well be blind for all the visual intelligence I have. Somehow the pictures on the internet are much more appealing…
Oooh, you can click on the bookshelves!
Cool, eh?!
