Read: 2012
I won’t lie to you: this year I have a baby and a pre-schooler at home with me, both of whom take umbrage to my doing much reading. I catch a patch here or there during naps and while nursing, but I anticipate this will be a slow year. Nevertheless, I’m sure I’ll read a thing or two, and here’s what I’ve read (so far) in 2012. Hello Charlotte, I’ve just found “inklings” for the first time, and with great interest came upon your review of River of Smoke (along with your comments about Sea of Poppies). I was struck by what you have to say about that earlier novel, as my feeling as I read it had been much the same. Good to have this second look at what Gosh was attempting there. (Earlier, I had read with interest and amazement his The Glass Palace, and so had been looking forward, I think, to a rather different book.) Thanks to your review I will get hold of River of Smoke as soon as I can — and follow your further reviews with great interest.
